What is Umbilical Cord Jewellery?
Umbilical cord jewellery preserves a small piece of your baby’s dried cord within fine jewellery, set in solid gold alongside real gemstones. A quiet way to carry the very first connection with you, always.
How it works
- Choose a design, or begin a bespoke commission with us.
- Once your order is confirmed, we send you full, simple instructions.
- Let the cord dry in a well-ventilated space for at least 4 weeks (for older children this has already happened naturally), then send a quarter to a half of the dried stump.
- We preserve it and craft your piece over 8 to 12 weeks from the day it safely reaches us.
- We hand your finished piece to you in person, or deliver it to your home via SmartPac for $18.
How much cord is needed?
A quarter to a half of the dried cord stump, sealed carefully in a small bag with your order reference. Please let it dry for a minimum of four weeks before sending.
Every cord is unique
No two cords are alike — some are a deeper brown, others almost white; some coarse, some very fine.
Because of this, we can't know exactly how yours will look until we begin working with it; its colour and character are revealed only as we preserve it.
That individuality is part of what makes your piece entirely your own.
More than cord
Many pieces can hold breastmilk, birthstones, or diamonds and gemstones repurposed from jewellery you already own — often combined with the cord in a single design. Milk and cord from more than one child can be preserved together.
